August Empties

Image
Winter has come and gone on the calendar but the weather is here to stay. As I type this in the comfort of my room and the heater is going, the rain continues to hammer down outside, and the wind lashes against the poor passerbys running for cover.  The start of Spring is usually a reminder for me to reevaluate where I am, decide what things to take with me into the future, and what things to leave behind. So behold, my August/Winter empties, bigger, better and improved with a definitive repurchase/would not repurchase (WR/WNR) rating. A post shared by Vivien (@vistillhere) on Aug 31, 2017 at 6:07pm PDT Missha Near Skin pH Cleansing Oil What: Cleansing Oil Rating: WNR I didn't think it had been that long since Missha released their pH balanced skincare line, but looks like they've already repackaged! I'm not sure if the formula has changed too, but if it hasn't, then it remains the first cleansing oil that I wasn't satisfi...

[JOLSE] Olivarrier Dual Moist Toning Lotion 180ml Review

Image
Jolse is one of my favourite K-Beauty sites to purchase from. They're generous with the samples, offer free shipping and have regular sales. What more could you ask for? Oh yeah, regular competitions to win new products to review! I finally got the chance to try out a brand I've seen making the rounds on IG - Olivarrier.  Olivarrier gets its name from the combination of olive + barrier. Their brand rests on the principle of using olive-derived squalane to moisturise and nourish the skin without sensitising it. All of their produces are free of fragrance, preservatives and colouring agents. I was lucky enough to win the Toning Lotion, which is meant to be good for dry and sensitive skin because of its ingredients and pH balanced solution.   Disclaimer: This product was provided by Jolse for review purposes however this does not affect my opinion of the item. Product claims (From Jolse) A pH 5.5 acidulous toner for the healthy skin that protects the skin f...

Benton Papaya S-Sun Cream SPF 50+ PA++++ Review

Image
Benton has a new muse and it's... papaya! Papaya has been the inspiration behind their latest sunscreen duo. The first one that came out was the Papaya-D Sun Cream for daily wear and was SPF 38/PA+++, whereas the one that I have received is their latest release, the Papaya-S Sun Cream SPF 50+/PA++++ for sports use. Disclaimer:  This product was provided by Benton for review purposes however this does not affect  my opinion of the item. One of the conditions for receiving the product was that I needed to review it within 7 days, so if you're interested, I posted a first impressions video of the product. I'm still getting a feel for making videos, because I find I don't always cover all the points I wanted to whereas with blogging at least I can keep going back and editing before it posts. So why papaya? Benton was inspired by Christopher Columbus, the explorer who called papaya 'the fruit of the angel's'. Papaya contains polyphenols (an...

Unik Rose Galactomyces Essential Toner Review

Image
When I first received this in the mail and read the ingredients, my heart skipped a beat. I'm a sucker for rose-scented curios so this toner got me excited, especially with its relatively short but sweet ingredients list. Given my previous mild breakout with Unik's Black Snail Serum however, I had to err on the caution with this product. Disclaimer : I received this toner for review purposes, courtesy of Unique4u.net however this does not influence my opinion of this product. Claims 'This toner can help to make moisturising, rebalances and softens the sensitive skin with rosa damascena flower water 70% from the most famous roses and galactomyces ferment filtrate 10%.' Packaging 200 mL of toner contained in a transparent, plastic bottle. I like being able to monitor how much product I have left, so this gets a large tick from me. Ingredients Rosa damascena flower water (70%), galactomyces ferment filtrate (10%), butylene glycol...

Moonshot Face Perfection Balm Review

Sometimes I worry that you'll get tired of reading about Moonshot, then I see some of my most read posts are their products and I think you guys are still hungry for more. Am I wrong? Let me know and I'll try tossing my money at other brands :P Claims Melting Balm Foundation formulated with various essential oil and shea butter compound for perfect skin complexion. It delivers soft, flawless, and glowing finish. Packaging 30g contained in a frosted glass jar. There's 2 plastic lids; an outer, glossy black screw top lid and an innerlift top lid. The second lid is virtually useless since it came off during transit and stuck itself to the underside of the black lid. I purchased this in a limited edition package that came with their S101 brush, a travel-sized buffing brush. Ingredients WATER, CYCLOPENTASILOXANE, CYCLOHEXASILOXANE, ETHYLHEXYL METHOXYCINNAMATE, GLYCERIN, SYNTHETIC WAX, BIS-STEARYL DIMETHICONE, CETYL ETHYLHEXAN...

Benton Cacao Moist and Mild Cream Review

Disclaimer: I received this product from Benton in exchange for a review however this does not affect my opinion of the product. I'm super thankful to brands and companies that hold competitions for product reviewers. It means small, shabby potatoes like me can save a few bucks and still indulge in the experience of testing out a new item whee~ Benton is one such brand to pay attention to, and not just because they hold giveaways haha. They're cruelty free and produce affordable products with great ingredients. I've used their Snailbee Essence before and loved it because it's the first product I've used that clearly reduces my redness. Needless to say, I was very excited to have the opportunity to try out their latest creation. Claims - Lightweight texture - Suitable for Summer - Moist finish - Water-oil balance - Mild formula 'Benton’s Cacao Moist and Mild Cream is a lightweight cream made of healthy ingredients. Unik Black Snail Restore Serum Review

Image
Disclaimer:   I received this for free from unique4u.net in exchange for a review. However this does not affect my opinion of this product.  I was researching content for uni, and the next minute I realised half my tabs were all to do with internet shopping. At some point I came across Unique4u who was doing a giveaway of the Unik Black Snail Restore serum and my lucky ass who was on a semi-strict no-buy period at the time was one of the ones to ask and receive. I've never heard of this brand before; according to the website they're a new brand and 'Unik' stands for Unique & Natural Ingredients Knowhow. Unik Black Snail Restore Serum 50 mL/1.71 fl oz. Claims 'Powerful Skin Restore Nourishing & Lifting Whitening & Wrinkle Care This serum can help to make skin restore and smooth with black snail extract water 70% and 5 black super food (black rice, black bean, black sesame, eggplant, sea tangle) extract.'
