Updated Korean-Inspired Skincare Routine

Image
What does my skincare routine have in common with uni textbooks? They're both updated frequently and are outdated by the time they're in print, and they take generous bites out of my bank account. By the time I post this at least two of these items will have become empties, so I figured they should get their time in the spotlight before they step off their pedestal. 1. Skinfood Black Sugar Cleansing Oil (Oil Cleanse) I've never met an ineffective oil cleanser, and this one by Skinfood is no exception. It has some obvious slip to it and so doesn't feel thick and viscious. It emulsifies my makeup quickly and gently, and leaves my skin feeling conditioned after rinsing. The only product that it takes longer to scrub off are lip tint products, but that's why companies invented tint remover right? Cleasning oil in action. The most stubborn of the swatches would be that massive pink stain there belonging to a Tonymoly tint. The rub and rinse. The ...

January Masks Round Up

Image
One of my 2017 resolutions is to blog twice a month and really up my communication skills. The first post of the year is a round up of some masks I've gone through, which I'll be doing regularly because I bought over a year's worth of masks and I don't intend on letting any of them go to waste. A ' P I E U chocolate milk mask The packaging is adorable but annoying. There's the outer milk carton packaging, and then an extra plastic bag within in, that the mask is kept in. Tearing along the perforated line separated the packets from each other and I'd be awkwardly fumbling around for the leftover essence. The smell was horrendous too - it's cheap and artificial and reminded me of a weird mixture of flavoured medicine coupled with overripe mango. But the fit was great - the sheet was thin and adhered well to the skin without any slippage for 40 minutes. My skin definitely looked better afterwards and was firmer from the moisture, but the smell w...

[Review] K-Beauty Sheet Mask Empties ft. Dear Packer + more

D E A R   P A C K E R    C A M E L L I A   J E J U   F L O W E R Claims According to bbcosmetic.com it is 'for skin to have rich nutrients with tight skin'. Packaging Ingredients provided in English, but the claims weren't translated. I really like the packaging, the colours are very vivid. The mask appears speckled, like the seeds of a strawberry. Fit Not bad, I made some minor adjustments. The eye shape, is downward turned and leaves parts of the undereye area naked. It felt like a soft clooth draped over my face however the chin area often slipped off. Essence 23ml. Thin consistency, akin to a light lotion that sinks in very quickly. It dried down to a slightly tacky finish. Its sweet floral scent smells divine and it lingered for the most part of the masking session (40 minutes). Very little essence remained in the packet. Effects + repurchase Admittedly I was skeptical at first and it only shows how much I underestim...

Skincare Haul ft. Skinfood+Moonshot+More

A few weeks ago I enjoyed a short trip to Korea + Taiwan. As you’d expect, I had one main goal to achieve – buy alllllllll the things. When I spent the night before returning home packing and shoving and throwing out all the beautiful, beautiful packaging I thought I had done pretty well. I had left Australia with about 8kg of essentials and returned with a fat and bloated suitcase clocking in at just over 20kg (damn you Cathay Pacific and your cut off dates. FYI if you book a ticket with them now you get a 30kg allowance) Now that I’ve finally had time to sit down and photograph my spoils I’m disappointed I didn’t check off more stuff from my wishlist, but there are good reasons other than the weight issue. I knew a lot of the items I wanted were going to be heavy so I was prepared to stock up on more items and ship it over. Turns out it wasn’t necessary. SO IF LUGGAGE ALLOWANCE WASN’T AN ISSUE, WHY DIDN’T I BUY EVERYTHING ON MY WISHLIST? Not all the cosmetics are chea...
