Benton Cacao Moist and Mild Cream Review

Disclaimer: I received this product from Benton in exchange for a review however this does not affect my opinion of the product.

I'm super thankful to brands and companies that hold competitions for product reviewers. It means small, shabby potatoes like me can save a few bucks and still indulge in the experience of testing out a new item whee~ Benton is one such brand to pay attention to, and not just because they hold giveaways haha. They're cruelty free and produce affordable products with great ingredients.

I've used their Snailbee Essence before and loved it because it's the first product I've used that clearly reduces my redness. Needless to say, I was very excited to have the opportunity to try out their latest creation.
Claims
- Lightweight texture
- Suitable for Summer
- Moist finish
- Water-oil balance
- Mild formula

'Benton’s Cacao Moist and Mild Cream is a lightweight cream made of healthy ingredients. Having a light texture, even a generous amount of the cream does not leave skin heavy. Cacao extracts and hyaluronic acid help to replenish dry skin, leaving it dewy and vibrant.'

Packaging
50g of cream comes in a light pink, plastic squeeze tube. I'm not sure why it's pink, before I used it I half-expected a disgusting pink slime to ooze out like smooshed salmon. Thankfully it dispenses like your standard, run of the mill white cream.

Ingredients
Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Extract, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Water, Sorbitan Olivate, 1,2-Hexandiol, Pentylene Glycol, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Extract, Zanthoxylum Piperitum Fruit Extract, Pulsatilla Koreana Extract, Usnea Barbata (Lichen) Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Polyglutamic Acid, Madecassoside, Beta-Glucan, Carbomer, Arginine, Xanthan Gum

What a delightfully short and sweet ingredients list! Cacao extract and cocoa seed butter make up 73% of the cream's ingredients. Cocoa extract is a moisturising and conditioning antioxidant. Cocoa butter also moisturises with its abundance of fatty acids. Madecassoside has been a very popular ingredient as of late, and is adored for its soothing, calming and restorative properties.

Texture & Scent

The cream dispenses thickly but spreads like a light lotion. It has the barest scent, just like the Snailbee essence, although it is extremely faint and dissipates quickly. It has a remarkably cool feeling, so much that I could clearly feel that the side of my face I was using this on was cooler than the other half of my face.

Experience
Benton seems to be very excited that this cream is great for summer, which is good news for those in the northern hemisphere but I live in Australia and we're in the dead of winter. It was 13 degrees celsius today and I was wrapped up in my warmest jacket that looks like a quilted blanket with sleeves. Needless to say I was curious as to how well this cream would serve me in the current weather

On the right side of my face, I stuck with my usual routine. For the left side, I replaced my usual moisturiser with the Benton cream instead. I could feel the Benton cream reducing the temperature of my skin and keeping it cooler that the other side of my face. It is indeed lightweight, and is absorbed easily into the skin. As it hydrated and moisturised my face, it left my skin feeling soft and comfortable. I haven't noticed any remarkable calming effects.

Initially the cream had a tacky finish that quickly dried down to a smooth, but very slight film on my skin. Yet this finish seemed to make it work perfectly under makeup by smoothing out my base. I've noticed my foundation has been less cakey when I go overboard with the application too.

Overall I'm satisfied with this cream. It's come just in time, as I'll soon need a replacement daytime moisturiser that won't interfere with my foundation. If you're after a no frills, light cream with a minimal ingredients list, give this one a try.
