[Review] February Sheet Masks ft. Labiotte

Labiotte is a sister brand to Tonymoly and sets itself apart as the older sibling whose tastes have progressed beyond cute animal products, and now has a more 'refined' palate for objects of elegance and greater complexity. Or according to their US website, botanical based functional cosmetics. Personally I didn't hear about them until reviews of their Chateau Labiotte Wine Lip Tints started appearing all over YT, and then they were mentioned in that EXO song. But how do their skincare products fare? I have mixed feelings about their masks, so read on to see which ones I recommend :)

BLOOMING ESSENCE SERIES

Phyto Ceramide Sheet Mask

Claims to give vitality and supply moisture to dry skin with its combination of plant-derived ceramide and microfiber sheet.

Contrary to the series name, the Blooming Essence Ceramide mask is an emulsion-type mask. The thin mask comes with single-sided netting to help with the unfolding. There's a surprising amount of emulsion contained within the mask and much is leftover in the packet, enough to thinly moisturise my arms and legs. Following the masking session my skin felt soothed and more bouncy.

Phyto Protecting Sheet Mask

The microfiber sheet claims to care for and soothe the skin that's exposed to the external environment with the inclusion of a cotton extract.

Not all 'flavours' in a mask series are made the same and this is one example. The Phyto Protecting sheet mask also came with netting on one side but the essence was so slippery it was unfold the mask. The mask was also very thin, yet the material felt like I had a plastic bag stuck to my face. 15 minutes into mask and chill the lip area was already dried out and I removed the mask to see negligible effects.

MARRYECO SERIES

Fresh Soothing Sheet Mask with Pink Peony

Claims to take care of uneven irritated skin with the combination of pink peony and 'Labiotte relaxing complex'.

Beats me what the relaxing complex is meant to be, surely not alcohol? It's got a pretty significant standing as the 5th ingredient in the list.

Would I repurchase this mask? Not not today, or ever. Soothing masks are usually my jam since my cheeks are eternally blushed and easily provoked. I used this after I irritated my skin because I didn't wait long enough between an AHA and niacinamide. Despite the mask giving a cooling effect, I realised it didn't actually have any soothing effects because my skin was just as red after usage.

Nutri Moist Sheet Mask with Artichoke

Claims to provide nutrients to tired skin, making it look healthy and beautiful using artichoke and the Labiotte relaxing complex.

Looks like deception is a game that Labiotte does well in. My hopes were dashed when I saw what an ill fitting sheet mask it was with its massive eye holes. It is a lotion type mask that smells like cheap emollient cream yet surprise surprise 25 minutes later it calmed my inflamed lips and surroundings significantly and even reduced the redness of my cheeks. Now there was no glow or excessively hydrated feel but even my lips felt more resilient and softer. Nice one Labiotte!

So those were my experiences with each Labiotte mask. There are hits and misses, but the hits are quality enough I wouldn't mind repurchasing them if they were on sale.
