I was researching content for uni, and the next minute I realised half my tabs were all to do with internet shopping. At some point I came across Unique4u who was doing a giveaway of the Unik Black Snail Restore serum and my lucky ass who was on a semi-strict no-buy period at the time was one of the ones to ask and receive. I've never heard of this brand before; according to the website they're a new brand and 'Unik' stands for Unique & Natural Ingredients Knowhow.

The serum comes in a transparent, glass dropper bottle. The box is fully translated in English.

Texture & Scent

No scent whatsoever. Straight from the dropper it seems viscous and sticky but it's only a little thicker than water.

Performance & Thoughts

To test this product out, I followed my usual skincare routine, with the exception of a sheet mask when I did an all nighter. On the right side of my face, I continued to use the Goodal Liquid, whilst on the LHS, I used the Unik Snail Serum instead. I've been very liberal with it and apply 2 dropper-fulls. Even then, it absorbs remarkably quickly into the skin with no sticky feeling at all. I find it best to apply in small layers because my skin takes on a healthy sheen and looks glowy. Compared to my pre-existing routine, I've found this product raises the water content in my skin by 1-2%, and raises the oil content by 0.5-1%, even after 3-4 hours.

Unfortunately this serum hasn't helped with 'restoring' or calming any compromised areas. If anything, I suspect it either causes small breakouts, or makes my skin more vulnerable to breakouts. Why? After a few days of testing, I broke out purely on the left half of my face. A mild inflamed patch popped up on the left side of my neck and that hasn't happened in a long time. To double check it really was the serum, I stopped using it on the left side and used it only on the right side of my face instead. Sure enough my right cheek developed some pimples too. It's a shame because the ingredients list looked very clean and I liked how effortlessly it absorbed into my skin, but it hasn't worked out ideally for my skin.
